Koeninger does a lot of things well on the field. He’s an aggressive hitter with good bat speed, performing at a high level in games with extra-base damage and frequent quality contact. There are times when his leg kick can get him out on his front foot and open his hips early, but when he stays balanced it’s a short, powerful stroke. A plus runner, Koeninger is an athletic mover at shortstop with a plus arm. Koeninger is a two-way prospect with a fastball that has taken a jump from typically working into the low 90s in 2024 to now reaching 97 mph from his short arm stroke. He throws a hard curveball in the low 80s with sharp break and tight rotation in the 2,600-2,800 rpm range. He has a changeup as well but it’s mostly a fastball/breaking ball mix. -

Koeninger is an aggressive hitter with good bat speed and high-level performance in games with extra-base damage and frequent quality contact. He sat in the low 90s in 2024, but in 2025 was regularly throwing it in the 92-94 mph range and touching 97.
