Ford ranked as the No. 69 overall prospect on the final BA 500, but he went undrafted after announcing his commitment to Tennessee. A two-year standout at Virginia, Ford this year hit a career-best .362/.420/.575 with 21 extra-base hits and 46 RBIs. At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, Ford has a big league body. He has a rather stiff operation in the box and is an aggressive hitter with enough natural strength to drive the baseball with authority to all parts of the field. Up to this point, most of his home run power—and highest quality of contact—has come to the pull side. Ford struggles to pick up secondaries out of the hand at times, and he also has the tendency to expand the strike zone. After spending the entirety of his freshman season at first base, Ford this spring logged 34 games in the outfield and manned center field this summer in the Cape League. However, He’s a below-average runner and heavy stepper with an average arm, so he profiles best in a corner outfield spot long term. -
School: Tennessee Committed/Drafted: Never Drafted. Age At Draft: 21.9
Ford was one of the top draft-eligible sophomores in the 2025 class and ranked as the No. 69 overall prospect on the BA 500. He went undrafted and announced after the season he would transfer from Virginia to Tennessee for the 2026 season. At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Ford has a big-league body with impressive strength and power to go with a solid feel for the barrel. His swing can get stiff, and he can be overly aggressive at times, but he can rocket balls out of the park to the pull side. In two years, he’s a .348/.414/.587 hitter with 28 home runs and 22 doubles. He also moved from first base to right field and showed enough range and mobility to profile in the grass. He played center field in the Cape Cod League in 2025. Ford isn’t a great runner and will profile best in either left or right field in pro ball. -
School: Virginia Drafted/Committed: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.0
BA Grade: 50/High
Ford is a physical, 6-foot-5, 225-pound first baseman and outfielder who entered the 2025 season as one of the more exciting hit/power bats in the college class. He homered 17 times as a Virginia freshman in 2024, and then transitioned from the team’s regular first baseman to splitting time at first base and right field as a draft-eligible sophomore in 2025. Ford traded a bit of power for a bit of contact this year and slashed .362/.420/.575 with 11 home runs, a 13% strikeout rate and a 9.1% walk rate. Ford is an aggressive hitter with a stiff operation that includes a bucket stride in his lower half and a steep, uphill righthanded swing. He has a ton of raw power and can drive the ball a long way to his pull side—where he hits most of his home runs—but he has enough strength to drive the ball into the right-center field gap as well. Ford’s swing can look a bit grooved at times, and he has struggled picking up spin and staying in the zone on his swing decisions, so there’s plenty of pressure on his ability to hit for power in games. He’s a corner player because of his below-average speed and a heavy-footed stride, but he moves around well enough to handle an outfield corner, with left field being most likely given his average arm strength.

BA Grade/Risk: 50/High
Virginia has established a lengthy track record of cranking out impressive hitters, and Ford is one of the next in line. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound infielder hit .336/.409/.597 as a freshman in 2024 with 31 extra-base hits—including 17 home runs—and 69 RBIs in 61 games. His operation is stiff and not the most aesthetically pleasing, but it works. Ford has plus power to the pull side but has shown the ability to drive the baseball into the right-centerfield gap as well. He does need to shore up his swing decisions and improve his ability to pick up spin out of the hand. A likely first baseman in the long run, Ford’s offensive profile could be good enough to warrant a day one selection and he’s expected to play right field for the Cavaliers in 2024 which could make his hit/power profile all the more appealing if he shows he can stick in the grass.
