School: USC Drafted/Committed: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.8
Hunter pitched two strong seasons with Sierra JC in California before transferring to USC in 2025, where he assumed the team’s Friday night starting role. He posted a 5.50 ERA in 14 starts and 70.1 innings with a 25% strikeout rate and an 11.4% walk rate. Scouts were impressed with the pure stuff he showed in the 2024 fall before the season, but he wasn’t quite as electric during the spring. He has a three-pitch mix that includes a 90-94 mph fastball that tops at 97 and has solid riding life, as well as a low-80s slider with sweep he uses against lefties and a low-80s changeup that becomes his go-to secondary versus righties. Hunter has shown better control of his fastball than his secondaries and is a below-average strike-thrower overall.
