School: Mill Valley HS, Shawnee, Kan. Age At Draft: 18.9
Committed: Texas
One of the top offensive performers on the summer circuit as an underclassman, Peterson has power tools that stick out. He’s 6-foot-3 with a strong, physically mature build for his age with big raw power. He doesn’t have to sell out his swing to generate that power, staying inside the ball well with a short lefthanded stroke to use the whole field. He can drive the ball with impact to the middle of the field with the potential to grow into a 25-plus home run threat. Peterson has experience at third base, the outfield and behind the plate as well. He has improved his quickness to become an average runner and has the defensive actions and above-average arm strength that should allow him to handle third base. Peterson pitches as well, throwing strikes with a fastball he can run up to 94 mph and pairing it with a sharp, biting slider in the low 80s that has tight rotation, but it’s his talent as a position player that’s the biggest draw. -
School: Mill Valley HS, Shawnee, Kan. Committed/Drafted: Texas. Age At Draft: 18.9
One of the top offensive performers on the summer circuit as an underclassman, Peterson has power tools that stick out. He’s 6-foot-3, 210 pounds with a strong, physically-mature build for his age with big raw power. He doesn’t have to sell out his swing to generate that power, staying inside the ball well with a short, lefthanded stroke to use the whole field. He can drive the ball with impact to the middle of the field with the potential to grow into a 25-plus home run threat. Peterson has experience at third base, the outfield and behind the plate, as well. He will turn in average run times, and he has an above-average arm that would fit nicely at the hot corner. However, he can be heavy-footed at times and might eventually need to play first base or a corner outfield position. Peterson pitches, as well, throwing strikes with a fastball he can run up to 94 mph and pairing it with a sharp, biting slider in the low 80s that has tight rotation. But it it’s his talent as a position player that’s the biggest draw. He is committed to Texas.
