  Track Record: The Dominican Republic native joined outfielder Jose Ramos as one of two Athletics 2024 international signees to receive a $1.2 million bonus. Montero fared much better in his introduction to the Dominican Summer League, hitting .239/.398/.375 with three homers and nearly as many walks (48) to strikeouts (50) in 54 games.
  
  Scouting Report: Montero showed the early signs of potential impact paired with solid swing decisions in his DSL debut. He’s switch-hitting for now, although evaluators have preferred Montero’s swing from the left side dating back to his amateur days. He showed some swing-and-miss but didn’t chase often and was very patient in his approach. Montero generated above-average exit velocities for his age and has some understanding of how to use all fields. Defensively, Montero showed solid actions and range at shortstop. He also has an accurate arm capable of throwing from multiple angles, although he dealt with some fatigue that impacted his arm strength. There are also concerns he may eventually grow off the position and need to move to third base as his frame quickly fills out.
  
  The Future: If Montero can maintain his body, he has the building blocks of an offensive-oriented infielder who can stick on the left side. He’d benefit from more time in the DSL but could reach the states at some point in 2025.
