  Crowell is the son of former major league lefthander Jim Crowell, who pitched 10 big league games in parts of three seasons with the Reds, Phillies and Marlins. Caden is a projectable 6-foot-4, 200-pound lefthander with some feel for a three-pitch mix. Crowell sets up on the first base side of the rubber and creates a more extreme angle to the plate, with good direction in his lower half and an athletic delivery that includes a hooking arm action and a three-quarters slot. He typically sits in the low 90s with his fastball and will touch 94, though he has enough space on his frame to expect more strength gains and more velocity in the coming years. Crowell was scattered with his fastball command on the 2024 circuit but showed solid feel to land a slider and changeup. He throws his slider in the 78-82 mph range with decent three-quarter shape and has done a nice job spotting his low-80s changeup at the bottom and below the zone—though his arm speed will lag on this pitch at times. Crowell is a Notre Dame commit who will be 19 on draft day.

  Lefthander Jim Crowell pitched in 10 major leagues games over three seasons with the Reds, Phillies and Marlins. His son, Caden, is now a lefty on the rise in the 2025 class. Crowell has a projectable 6-foot-4 frame that should hold more weight and help him add velocity to a fastball that’s already trending up, touching 91 mph in 2023 and now reaching 94. Crowell throws strikes with his fastball and has shown feel to manipulate a pair of secondary pitches between his slider and changeup, both upper 70s. At times his slider is his most effective offspeed pitch and it’s typically the one he leans on the most. In other outings it’s his changeup, which he executes well down in the zone with sink and significant separation off his fastball to induce whiffs and off-balance swings.
