Baird is a long-limbed righthander with starter traits and a projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds. He wasn’t seen as often as scouts would have liked on the 2024 showcase circuit but had a track record of strong strikes and a fastball up to 94. His velocity ticked up early in the 2025 season, when he was touching 96-97 at peak and sitting in the 92-95 mph range. Scouts, however, thought his velocity played down against high school competition. Baird throws a slurvy breaking ball in the upper 70s that blends between a slider and a curve, and he’s also shown some feel for a changeup with heavy fade in the low 80s. Baird is committed to Vanderbilt. -

Age At Draft: 18.9
Baird is a long-limbed pitcher with a projectable 6-foot-4 frame and a fastball that has been up to 94 mph with good armside run and the projection for more velocity to come, though he will have to tighten his fastball command. Baird at times has shown high confidence in his changeup, a pitch that has good separation off his fastball at 78-82 mph and late dive underneath bats when it’s at its best. More recently he has leaned more on his slider, an upper-70s to low-80s pitch that he spins at 2,300-2,500 rpm.
