A 23-year-old senior sign, Hoppe has spent time as a starter and reliever with UNC Greensboro, but this spring pitched exclusively out of the bullpen to great success. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound righthander posted a 2.97 ERA over 66.2 innings, while striking out 84 and walking 30. He has a powerful fastball that averaged 95-96 mph this spring and touched 99 with close to 19 inches of induced vertical break. His go-to secondary is a low-to-mid-80s slider that generated whiffs at a 53% rate, per Synergy.
