Handsome Monica sports more than just one of the best names in the 2014 draft. He is a high-intensity player with plus makeup who dabbles in mixed martial arts. The 6-foot, 221-pounder shows plus raw power, though his swing isn't pretty, and he utilizes strength more than bat speed. He made a good amount of contact against quality pitching on the showcase circuit last summer, but his power doesn't fully translate in game action. Monica is not a lock to remain behind the plate, with an arm that flashes average but plays as below-average in games. The accuracy of his throws will also have to improve. The Arizona commit is a well below-average runner who would likely move to first base if pushed off catcher.
