Norris gained notoriety as an underclassman when he touched 94 mph and out-pitched Luke Bartnicki in the 2018 National High School Invitational. Norris and teammate Jordyn Adams, a first-round pick of the Angels that year, helped make Green Hope High the first North Carolina team to reach the championship game of the tournament. Norris battled inconsistencies and prospect fatigue during the ensuing years, but bounced back in a big way this spring. After sitting 87-91 mph with erratic control last summer, Norris came out throwing 92-96 mph with a plus curveball during an early-season outing this year. Teams were looking forward to running in and getting more looks at Norris this spring, but the novel coronavirus ruined those plans. Norris is bit of en enigma for scouts. He has flashed that plus fastball and 12-to-6 curveball, as well as a sharp slider in the low 80s and a mid-80s changeup he is still gaining feel for. But Norris has also showed less potent stuff and bottom-of-the-scale control at other times, leaving teams unsure what they're going to see on any given day. With the 2020 season cut short, teams are left to wonder if Norris has taken the jump for good. Either way, he will need to improve his bottom-of-the-scale control and maintain his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame moving forward. He is committed to North Carolina.
