Trent Palmer

Palmer first drew scouts' attention with a fastball that reached 97 mph in relief in the Cape Cod League last summer. He became a full-time starter at Jacksonville for the first time this spring and got off to a great start with 41 strikeouts and five walks in 27.2 innings before the season shut down. Palmer brings power stuff and showed better control as a starter than he did as a reliever. His fastball ranged from 92-96 mph as a starter this spring, and he mixed in two potential above-average secondaries with his firm, 84-87 mph slider and a changeup. At 6-foot-1, 230 pounds, Palmer will need to maintain his body moving forward, but he’s shown a repeatable delivery that should give him every opportunity to start.
