Roberts showed impressive hitting traits at Tennessee Tech over two seasons in 2020 and 2021, then put up a .305/.345/.427 slash line with Cotuit in the Cape Cod League last summer. In his first season in the ACC with Florida State, Roberts hit .300/.373/.461 with five home runs and 18 doubles. A 6-foot, 182-pound infielder, Roberts is a contact-oriented hitter who has a knack for driving the ball the opposite way to the right-center gap. Roberts doesn’t swing and miss at a high rate, but he could improve his swing decisions and stay more disciplined within the zone. He makes a lot of contact against fastballs but did struggle against 93-plus mph velocity this spring. He has solid bat speed and more pop than you might expect given his size and frame and is a solid runner as well. Roberts has played third base for Florida State this spring, but some scouts think he might be a better fit for second given his arm strength, while still others wonder if he might be a more natural fit in the outfield.
