Pres Cavenaugh

Cavenaugh has shown impressive on-base ability as a corner outfielder for UNC Greensboro for three years. Listed at 6-foot, 206 pounds, Cavenaugh played 27 games in the Cape Cod League in 2021, where he impressed with a .333/.413/.429 slash line with 12 walks and 18 strikeouts while playing both left and right field. This spring with UNC Greensboro, he moved to center field and hit .340/.403/.508 with eight home runs, 13 doubles, 15 stolen bases and nearly as many walks (23) as strikeouts (27). Cavenaugh makes tons of contact, but he has also never hit for the sort of power that teams would like from a corner outfield profile, which will put more pressure on his bat to produce or to stick in center field—which is unlikely. His Cape performance in 2021 could make him an intriguing pick in the seventh-to-10th-round range or soon thereafter.
