A 6-foot-3, 205-pound lefthander, Saalfrank was named the Big Ten pitcher of the year during his junior season this spring, going 8-1, 2.84 with 98 strikeouts and 28 walks in 73 innings. Saalfrank throws a fastball that ranges from 89-92 mph and also has a curveball with big shape and depth. Saalfrank was used as a reliever most of the time as a freshman and sophomore, but made a successful transition to the starting rotation this spring.
