Dylan Spain

Spain spent three seasons in the starting rotation at Division II Hawaii-Hilo and was set to be its ace in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the season. He remained in school to finish his degree this spring but did not pitch for the team. He instead worked out training facility Academy of Missing Barrels in Honolulu, where he improved his velocity and stuff to remain on draft radars. Spain is a 6-foot-6, 210-pound righthander with long limbs and a fastball that climbed to 96 mph this spring after previously sitting in the low-90s throughout his college career. His mid-70s curveball has promise and he showed above-average control throughout his college career. Spain turned 23 shortly after the draft and is one of the oldest players in the class. He is a candidate to be taken in similar fashion to a senior sign.
