Bates is a productive senior sign. He hit .444/.531/.891 in the abbreviated 2020 season. That wasn’t enough to convince a team to draft him in the five-round draft so he returned to Louisiana Tech for a fifth season. That makes him extremely experienced (226 college games). And he was one of the Bulldogs’ best hitters in 2021. Bates hit .346/.471/.583 with 11 home runs. The lefthanded hitter is an above-average runner who may be able to stick in center in pro ball as well.
