  Finley has been a true two-way player for Georgia Tech in 2023 as a starting pitcher and key cog in the lineup—both on days when he’s throwing and when he’s not. Listed at 6-foot-4, 224 pounds, Finley posted a 5.84 ERA over 13 starts and 44.2 innings, with a 17% strikeout rate and 7.5% walk rate. As a hitter, Finley slashed .327/.396/.668 with 17 home runs, 17 doubles, a 35.3% strikeout rate and 8.9% walk rate. He averaged 90 mph on his fastball but has gotten the pitch up into the upper 90s, and has a complete four-pitch mix thanks to a mid-80s changeup, mid-80s slider and upper-70s curveball. While Finley has solid stuff and threw good strikes this spring, his loudest tool is the raw power he has as a hitter. He hits towering home runs to left field and produced some of the best exit velocity numbers in the country, with a 95.6 mph average and 90th percentile mark of just over 110 mph. That power comes with tremendous swing-and-miss questions, as evidenced by his strikeout rate and 61% overall contact rate. He likely has more pure upside as a hitter, but is significantly less likely to hit enough to to reach that ceiling, and so could be viewed more optimistically as a pro pitching prospect.
