Sommers wasn't seen much by area scouts this spring, after posting a 6.53 ERA over 13 starts and two relief appearances as a junior. However, this spring a transition to the bullpen seemed to pay off for the 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior righthander, as he posted the best ERA (3.71) of his collegiate career and the highest strikeout rate (11.1 per nine) of his career as well.
