Brock is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound catcher who has had solid back-to-back offensive seasons since becoming the team’s everyday catcher in 2022. After hitting over .300 for the first time during his redshirt sophomore year, he had a career year in 2023 as a redshirt junior. Brock slashed .313/.433/.556 with 11 home runs,17 doubles, a 19.7% strikeout rate and a 15.6% walk rate. Brock has a bit of an odd setup at the plate, which features a high hand set above his head with a steep bat wrap. He has lots of strength and raw power thanks to his large frame, though most of that power plays to the pull side and it’s more of a power-over-hit offensive profile. There’s a decent amount of swing-and-miss in his game, particularly against secondaries, and most of his home run damage came against fastballs in the 80s. Despite his size, Brock folds up nicely behind the plate and employs a one-knee setup. He has a solid throwing arm and routinely clocks above-average pop times to second base, with a fast exchange and good footwork on his throws. He threw out 27% of base runners (17-for-63) this spring. Brock is a well below-average runner.
