Heaton carried storied Yucaipa (Calif.) High to a CIF-Southern Section title as a junior, capped by a complete game with one run allowed in the championship game. He followed up by going 10-2, 1.56 with six shutouts as a senior, including a perfect game, while playing in Southern California's top division. Heaton is physical righthander with an 86-90 mph fastball and room to grow into more velocity. He is strongly committed to Brigham Young and will be difficult to sign. Many scouts think he will be a high pick out of college in a few years.
