Ryne Birk

Birk, Baseball America's first-team All-America second baseman, is the kind of player who looks better and better the more that scouts see him. In one or two-game viewings, Birk's lack of a clear carrying tool stand out. But Birk impresses with his steady consistency, fringe-average hit and power potential and his production in the Southeastern Conference. Birk doesn't run particularly well and is a fringy defender at second. He'll face a decision about whether to sign for modest money as a 10th-15th rounder or return to Texas A&M for his senior season.
