Will Toffey

Toffey is an above-average defensive third baseman with a strong arm and good control of the strike zone, but scouts are unsure whether he has the power to profile at the position at the next level. He doesn't have one standout tool to get excited about, but his improvement at the plate during his third year with Vanderbilt is encouraging. Each year during his time with the Commodores, Toffey has improved his strikeout-to-walk ratio, culminating in a junior campaign where he's walked almost twice as often as he's struck out. Tack on his eight home runs--doubling his previous collegiate high of four--and a strong second year in the Cape Cod League and an analytics department might be even more excited about his track record at the plate than scouts are about his tools.
