Drafted in the 24th round by the Nationals last June, Smith didn't pass his physical and came back for his senior season with the Mountaineers. A 6-foot-5, 230-pound righthander, Smith has the power stuff you'd expect from his physical frame, sitting 92-94 mph and touching 95 with a hard mid-80's slider. West Virginia's closer, Smith went 5-2, 2.20 and struck out 42 to 15 walks in 33 innings this spring.
