Scouting Report

Godfrey ranked No. 130 on the 2014 BA 500 and was drafted in the 21st round by the Braves. He chose to go on to Louisiana State, where he was the top player in the Tigers' No. 1 ranked recruiting class after Mac Marshall made a late decision to attend Chipola (Fla.) JC instead. Godfrey threw 54 2/3 innings for LSU as a freshman before he too decided to leave for a Florida junior college. He had a mixed season for Northwest Florida State, as he was hampered by several minor injuries. Listed at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, he has a strong, physical frame. His fastball sits in the low 90s at its best, regularly getting up to 94 mph. His changeup and slider both show promise, and he could end up with three average or better offerings. He has struggled with his command over the last two years, and will need to throw more strikes going forward. Godfrey is committed to Arizona State.
