Richards has a stocky 6-foot, 200-pound body and may not stay at shortstop in pro ball, but it's hard to deny his 2016 season. He led Cal State Fullerton to the Big West championship, leading the conference with nine home runs and making all the routine plays. He profiles as an offensive second baseman with sound hands, solid arm strength and good footwork that have been evident since his prep days at Long Beach's Wilson High. Offensively, he's surprised scouts with his pop, which has come on since he hit the weight room enthusiastically.
