FHSAA Denies Bass Appeal
No doubt about it, Seminole High is the best 8-10 team in the country.
The Florida High School Activities Association on Thursday did what no team on the field had thus far - hand the Warhawks their first loss. The FHSAA upheld its mid-March decision that star transfer Bryan Bass played while ineligible and forced Seminole to forfeit the 10 games -- all victories -- in which he appeared.
Bass, a senior who is rated the No. 6 overall high school prospect and No. 1 shortstop in the nation by Baseball America, transferred to Seminole from Fort Lauderdale Westminster Academy in January.
Seminole's appeal Thursday was based on several factors, the paramount being that the Bass family consulted extensively with the FHSAA before transferring from Fort Lauderdale Westminster to No. 1-ranked Seminole in January.
