A record six shortstops ranked among the top 16 prospects in the game this year. The next-best showing was 1995, when Alex Rodriguez (1), Chipper Jones (3), Derek Jeter (4), Alex Gonzalez (5), Rey Ordonez (20) and Nomar Garciaparra (22) all ranked in the top 22. From ready-to-contribute standouts like Dansby Swanson and J.P. Crawford to lower-level blue chippers like Gleyber Torres and Brendan Rodgers, the top of shortstop prospect class is as good as it has ever been. High-upside teen talents like Kevin Maitan and Delvin Perez add star potential even down the list.
