What To Watch At The Park

Charleston RiverDogs at Greenville Drive (June 9-11): This series begins tonight with a terrific matchup. Severino, a top 10 Yankees prospect entering the season, has done nothing to remove that shine, going 1-2, 2.88 with a 56/11 SO/BB mark. He’s run his fastball up to 98 this season, but sits comfortably at 93-95. He’s got a three-pitch mix and his control remains impeccable. As for Ball, the seventh overall pick in 2013 has struggled this season (1-4, 6.84), not showing the command or the stuff scouts saw at New Castle (Ind.) High. He’s walked 11 in 25 innings while giving up 39 hits for an unsightly WHIP of 2.00. Still, Ball at his best is a premium prospect. The series also offers a chance to see Charleston’s power bat Aaron Judge and slick SS Abiatal Avelino while Greenville has Dominican studs Manuel Margot and Wendell Rijo. Series Of The Week

Frisco RoughRiders at Corpus Christi Hooks (June 11-14): It's been a great year to be a Frisco fan. The season began with fans watching second baseman Rougned Odor and shortstop Luis Sardinas. They jumped from Frisco to the big leagues, but now Frisco gets some outstanding replacements as third baseman Joey Gallo and righthander Chi Chi Gonzalez have just been promoted to Double-A. Their first full series will be against Corpus Christi which features outfielders Preston Tucker and Delino DeShields Jr. and second baseman/shortstop Nolan Fontana.
