Surgery Goes Well For Marlins’ Ramon Del Orbe

Marlins’ righthander Ramon Del Orbe is resting and recovering in the intensive care unit at a Charleston, W. Va., hospital after undergoing successful surgery to reduce swelling and pressure.

Del Orbe has been in intensive care since he was struck in the head by a line drive off of the bat of Josh Bell during Tuesday night’s Greensboro-West Virginia game. If the recovery goes as planned he will be moved out of the intensive care unit to a different room in a couple of days as doctors continue to monitor him. A Marlins official said he will eventually face further reconstructive surgery.
