Prospects Worth Watching: The Western Division squad features the top two picks in last year’s draft in shortstop Carlos Correa (Astros) and center fielder Byron Buxton (Twins). Those two would be worth the trip to Dayton on their own, but they are joined in the West starting lineup by lots of power with intriguing third baseman Renato Nunez (Athletics), DH Dan Vogelbach (Cubs) and outfielder Adam Brett Walker (Twins).

After spending much of his pro career on the disabled list, Michael Ynoa has started to show at least glimpses of why he was once the top pitching prospect on the international market. Those glimpses in pitch-limited starts were enough to get him onto the all-star team. He’s joined on the West pitching staff by Lance McCullers Jr. (Astros) and J.O. Berios (Twins) as well by the slow-climbing-but-still-talented Tyrell Jenkins (Cardinals).

The East roster can’t come close to matching the one-two prospect punch of Correa and Buxton, but outfielder Jesse Winker (Reds) is an excellent hitter. The East pitching staff is more prospect laden than the lineup. Robert Stephenson (Reds), Jeff Ames (Rays), Taylor Guerrieri (Rays) and Joe Ross (Padres) give the team a number of power arms.
