Princeton (Rays) shortstop Tim Beckham put together the most impressive game of his young career in a 10-6 victory over Johnson City (Cardinals). Beckham now has collected a hit in four of his last five games and has shown flashes of power, rapping out four doubles in his last six games. Beckham, who is usually in the lineup as DH when he is not playing shortstop, has made seven errors last night, including a throwing error in last night’s game.

Prospect Nuggets

GCL Twins centerfielder Aaron Hicks was 2-for-5 in a 3-2 victory over the GCL Reds on Thursday. Hicks is now batting .324 on the year. . .GCL Nationals lefthander Jack McGeary was impressive in an outing against the GCL Dodgers Thursday. McGeary threw five innings, striking out seven while allowing one earned run. The lefthander walked two and allowed a pair of hits. . .Helena (Brewers) centerfielder Erik Komatsu has been one of the most consistent offensive performers in the Pioneer League and yesterday was one of his most impressive nights of the year. Komatsu went 3-for-4 in a 4-3 Helena victory with two RBI and two runs. Komatsu had a solo home run in the first inning to open the scoring, his sixth of the year.

What to Watch For Today

There will be a pair of doubleheaders in the Appalachian League today to make up for yesterday’s rainouts. Kingsport (Mets) will play two with Bluefield (Orioles) while Bristol (White Sox) will host Burlington (Royals) for a twin bill.
