Knee, Shoulder Hamper Heyward

Amidst one of the better offensive seasons by a teenager in low Class A in recent history, Jason Heyward is finally experiencing some baseball adversity.

The Rome right fielder has had problems with his right shoulder and had swelling in his right knee, according to the Rome News-Tribune. Heyward has missed the last two games and is not in the starting lineup today against Columbus. An MRI done on Friday revealed "unclear" results, according to Rome manager Randy Ingle.

"We’ll just have to wait and see what the tests say on Monday," said Ingle.

The Braves drafted Heyward, 18, with the 14th overall pick in the 2007 draft. Through 252 plate appearances, Heyward is batting .330/.385/.509, ranking third in the SAL in batting average.
