High A Dish: Wins Leaders O’Sullivan, Chacin Duel

California League

Prospect Of The Day

Rancho Cucamonga (Angels) righthander Sean O’Sullivan had a tough task last night. He took the hill for the Quakes, but had to face the minor league wins leader, Modesto (Rockies) righthander Jhoulys Chacin. Don’t look now, but O’Sullivan took another step closer to catching Chacin last night. He went seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks. He struck out six and improved to 15-5, 4.48.
Prospect Nuggets

Chacin had two three-run innings posted against him and he finished the evening with a line of five innings, six runs, nine hits, one walk and six strikeouts. He is now 6-2, 2.81 in the Cal League and 16-3, 2.16 overall…Hank Conger did some of the damage against Chacin as a DH. He was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored…Visalia (Diamondbacks) righthander Barry Enright went seven innings and allowed three runs on nine hits and three walks. It wasn’t an incredible night, but we’ll give Potomac (Nationals) outfielder Michael Burgess extra credit for doing it in his first high Class A game. Burgess was 1-for-4 with a solo home run.

He was 2-for-4 last night with a double, RBI and run scored…Lefthander Cole Rohrbough also made his High A debut. He went six innings, allowed four runs on nine hits and one walk. However, he struck out six and was able to earn the win thanks two a couple of home runs by first baseman Ernesto Mejia, the home run derby champion at this year’s California-Carolina League All-Star game.

Righthander TIm Bascom gets the start for Frederick (Orioles). He will face Potomac and Michael Burgess. Bascom is prone to the long ball. After not giving up any in the first half, he’s allowed 13 in his last 41 innings.
