Gardner Out At Least A Month

Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner will miss at least a month with a broken hand he sustained in his first at-bat on May 4.

The Double-A Trenton outfielder, a 2005 third round pick out of College of Charleston, swung at a cutter in on his hands against New Britain lefthander Brian Duensing that caught him in the hand. He fouled out to the catcher in the at-bat and left the game with a fractured hand.

In 90 at-bats this season, Gardner was hitting .211/.317/.333.
