Futures Game Lineups

SAN FRANCISCO–Marlins righthander Rick Vanden Hurk and Devil Rays righthander Jeff Niemann will be the starting pitchers in today’s Futures Game. Vanden Hurk, a native of the Netherlands, will start for the World team, while Niemann will start for the U.S. That’s more than 13 feet of pitching power to start off the game.

Both rosters are down to nine pitchers, with the late departures of the Orioles’ Garrett Olson (promoted to the big leagues) and the Pirates’ Serguey Linares (tired arm). That shouldn’t create any problems, as pitchers usually work one inning or less in the seven-inning game.

Here are the other projected starters and the batting order for both teams:

Michael Saunders, cf, Mariners
Chin-Lung Hu, ss, Dodgers
Wladimir Balentien, rf, Mariners
