California-Carolina League All-Star Game Should Be Star-Studded Affair

When you look at the rosters below, one word comes to mind: Wow.

Those are the immensely talented groups of players scheduled to play in this year’s California League-Carolina League all-star game, which will take place on June 17 at Wilmington’s Frawley Stadium. On the California League roster alone you have a No. 1 prospect (Correa), a No. 2 prospect (Seager), two No. 4 prospects (Winker and Renfroe), a No. 6 prospect (Hawkins), and a pitcher with a strikeout-to-walk rate of nearly 7-to-1 (Lively). And that’s just one team.

What does the Carolina League have?

For starters, Joey Gallo, who, with 21 home runs, is tied for the lead in all of professional baseball. There’s also Jose Peraza, who’s hitting .321 and has swiped 27 bags in 33 chances. How about an athletic 20-year-old catcher with star potential? You’ve got Jorge Alfaro for that. Want to see a changeup thrown in the high-60s? Myrtle Beach lefty Alex Claudio has you covered.

There’s plenty more, but with the rosters below, this all-star game should be the best showcase this side of the Futures Game.
