Bruce Leaves Bats Game With Injury

Our Reds correspondent John Fay reports that Jay Bruce had to leave tonight’s game against the Norfolk Tides after he jammed his shoulder diving back into first base.

At the time, Bruce was just a double short of hitting for the cycle, as he had homered in the first inning, tripled in the second and singled in the fifth. He was picked off first by Radhames Liz, injuring his shoulder in the process, which forced the Bats to bring Adam Rosales in as a pinch hitter the next time Bruce came to bat.

According to Fay, the injury is not considered serious although Bruce will likely miss Thursday game. Since being sent down to Louisville to start the season Bruce is hitting .333/.345/.593 with three home runs and three stolen bases.
