The game's top lefthander is a considered a No. 3 starter type in Josh Hader, while the players following him have serious red flags. For Kolby Allard it's a previous back injury; for Jason Groome it's maturity; for Cody Reed it's performance after a poor big league debut. The same holds down the list, with wild cards (A.J. Puk, Adrian Morejon) who could just as easily flame out as become stars and others (Max Fried, Brady Aiken) with serious injury histories. With not much in the way of either depth or star power, this is one of the weakest crops in years and easily the weakest position group of 2017.
