The world champion Boston Red Sox visited President Obama and the White House Tuesday, as is customary for championship teams.
Among the highlights of the visit was the American flag blazer worn by outfielder Jonny Gomes.

David Ortiz presented Obama with a Red Sox No. 44 jersey, complete with Obama’s name, although, of course, the Red Sox do not have names on the backs of their jerseys.
Ortiz later posted a tweet of the photo.

"Boston and the Red Sox were one this season," Obama said, according to The Boston Globe. "Bottom line is, I'm proud of these guys," he added. "As a baseball fan, I appreciate their comeback season, but more importantly, as president, I'm grateful for their character and their embrace of the essential role they played in the spirit of that city."
