Giants, Tigers Have Multiple Silver Slugger Winners

Louisville Slugger unveiled its Silver Slugger Awards on Thursday night and the Giants and Tigers have multiple winners.

For the Tigers, Miguel Cabrera won his sixth Silver Slugger while J.D. Martinez won his first. The Giants’ winners were Buster Posey (third award), Brandon Crawford (first) and Madison Bumgarner (second in a row).

In addition, thirteen winners are under the age of 30.

"Major League Baseball has an incredible wealth of young talent right now," Louisville Slugger director of professional baseball James Sass said in a statement. "It's remarkable when you put some of these players' achievements in perspective. They are exciting to watch, and their performances are in line with many players who've made the Hall of Fame."
