Tigers Sign Two More Venezuelan Prospects

The Tigers have signed shortstop Anthony Pereira and outfielder Hector Hernandez out of Venezuela.

Pereira, 16, is a smooth defender with an average arm. He’s not a big guy but with his skinny 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame, he has the strength projection to add some pop down the road. He trained with Oswaldo Camacho. Hernandez, also 16, is a lefthanded hitter who stands out for his 70 speed on the 20-80 scouting scale and shows occasional power.

Earlier today the Tigers also signed Venezuelan catcher Elys Escobar for $350,000 and Dominican shortstop Hector Martinez for $400,000.
