College players making their pro debuts traditionally dominate the short-season Northwest League, and that doesn't figure to change. Even in 2006, when the league featured two impressive high school pitchers (Tony Butler and Kasey Kiker) making their pro debuts and a third who was a first-rounder in 2005 (Mark Pawelek), 14 of the 20 best prospects were college products.

One of those college players, five-tool Boise outfielder Tyler Colvin, grabbed the top spot on this list from Tri-City righthander Shane Lindsay, an Australian dynamo who utterly dominated the NWL in 2005 and returned while rehabbing a shoulder injury.

There was plenty of talent at the top of the league this year, and Tri-City righthander Josh Sullivan and Spokane outfielder/first baseman Chris Davis made compelling cases for inclusion in the top 10. Yakima righty Brooks Brown, a Diamondbacks supplemental first-rounder, is the poster boy for a group of hit-or-miss players at the back of the top 20.
