 A fourth-round pick out of North Carolina in 2004, Iannetta jumped straight to low Class A Asheville in his debut, then followed that up by making the U.S. roster for the Futures Game in his first full season last year while at high Class A Modesto. California League managers named him the best defensive catcher in the circuit last season. But for as good as Iannetta has been defensively, he's put up his best offensive season at the plate after scuffling--in part because he tried to play through a broken left hand--in a brief callup to Double-A Tulsa at the tail-end of the 2005 season. Iannetta's bat earned him a promotion to Triple-A and likely a big league callup when the rosters expand. | |
