Minor League Player Of The Year Watch

 HOMER BAILEYrhpReds
Homer BaileyWhile Bailey's first full season was unremarkable statistically, he showed glimpses of his promise over the last month of 2005 at low Class A Dayton that included an 11-strikeout two-hitter. The Reds' first-rounder in 2004 has come on strong from that point on, starting in high Class A Sarasota this year and earning a promotion to Double-A by midseason. Bailey has front-of-the-rotation stuff that starts with a lively fastball that tops out at 97 mph. He backs that up with a true 12-to-6 curveball. Bailey is athletic and repeats his delivery well, maintaining his velocity deep into games. While the Reds kept him under lock and key in the Midwest League last season, he's moving quickly--and making it look relatively easy--in 2006.
