| If at first you don't succeed . . . then trade for Javier Vazquez again. The Yankees acquired the well-traveled strikeout artist for the second time in a five-player trade with the Braves. Vazquez ranks fifth among active pitchers with 2,253 career strikeouts, but this marks the fifth time in six years that he's been traded. Joining him on the Atlanta-to-New York shuttle is lefty situational reliever Boone Logan, who has been tattooed by righthanded batters and has been rather ordinary versus lefthanded ones (.266/.333/.398 over 289 big league confrontations).
The Braves receive teenage righty Arodys Vizcaino, the Yankees' top pitching prospect, as well as center fielder Melky Cabrera and lefty Mike Dunn, both of whom finished the season in New York. The Yankees also included $500,000 in the deal. |

| Arodys Vizcaino, rhp Age: 19. Born: Nov. 13, 1990 in Yaguate, Dominican Republic. Ht.: 6-0. Wt.: 189. Bats: R. Throws: R. Career Transactions: Signed as nondrafted free agent by Yankees, July 2, 2007.
Extremely polished for a teenage pitcher, Vizcaino sits at 90-94 mph with his fastball and regularly runs it up to 96. His best pitch is a hammer curveball that he throws with solid command. Club officials say his curve is second only to A.J. Burnett's in the organization. He has a sturdy, durable body. Vizcaino's changeup has improved but still grades as below-average. He's raw and has plenty of work to do on subtle skills such as setting up hitters, fielding his position and holding runners. |

| Mike Dunn, lhp Age: 24. Born: May 23, 1985 in Las Vegas. Ht.: 6-1. Wt.: 195. Bats: L. Throws: L. School: CC of Southern Nevada. Career Transactions: Selected by Yankees in 33rd round of 2004 draft; signed May 24, 2005.
Dunn is ready to help a major league bullpen in 2010. He's a former two-way player in junior college who started out as a hitter, but the Yankees always saw him as a power reliever. He's touched 97-98 mph with his fastball and pitches comfortably in the 93-94 mph range. His slider is more notable for its power than it's depth. He's got some similarities to Alan Embree and also to Phil Coke, whom New York had in its bullpen last year. He's got more power and less command than Coke, but he should be a solid lefty reliever. |
