Mariners Gamble On Cubs Outfielder Milton Bradley

| Well-traveled outfielder Milton Bradley took about five minutes to wear out his welcome with the Cubs. He got ejected from his first game with the club, then later engaged in shouting matches with the Chicago coaching staff and ultimately found himself suspended for the team's final 15 games. Chicago has spent all winter shopping
Bradley around, mostly to American League teams where he can DH. They finally found a taker in Seattle, a club with a pounding headache of its own in the form of righthander Carlos Silva, a dismal free agent signing who went 5-18, 6.81 in his first two years with the club. In addition to adding Silva, the Cubs also will receive $9 million from Seattle to help offset the differences in salary between the players. Bradley's bat remains intriguing, even as he misses time with injury each season. For example, he led the AL with his .436 on-base percentage in '08. |
