High School Top 25: May 10
By Nathan Rode
May 9, 2011
Postseasons are underway for several southern states and the lack of major upsets has led to minimal shifting in the latest Baseball America/National High School Baseball Coaches Association Top 25. Owasso (Okla.) High begins the state tournament on May 11 still atop the rankings. The only changes in among the top 10 teams saw JSerra High (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) dropping one spot to No. 7 after a tough loss to a very competitive Mater Dei High of Santa Ana, Calif. and Atlanta's Marist School moving up four spots to No. 10 after advancing to the second round of the Georgia 4-A state playoffs.
Ardrey Kell High of Charlotte dropped out of the rankings from No. 19 after conference rival Providence High—also in Charlotte—beat the Knights for the second time this season. The Panthers entered the Top 25 for the first time this season at No. 24. Also joining the rankings for the first time in 2011 is Lorton, Va.'s South County High, sporting an undefeated record while playing in one of the toughest districts in Northern Virginia.
The staffs of Baseball America and the NHSBCA compile the Top 25
rankings. In-season polls will be conducted every two weeks and released
every other Tuesday throughout the season. Records indicated are as of May 8 and do not include ties.
