High School Top 25: April 27
Staff Report
April 27, 2010
The latest rankings yield another new No. 1 as Clovis West High of
Fresno, Calif. takes over the top spot in the Baseball America/National
High School Baseball Coaches Association Top 25 poll. Menchville High of
Newport News, Va. lost its first game of the season, but bounced back
the next day against Hampton's Kecoughtan High and 2011 lefthander Jake
Cave to settle in at No. 4.
Sarasota (Fla.) High's run at a perfect season came to an end and the
Sailors lost three out of four in the last two weeks, but they'll stay
in the hunt for a national title with Florida's postseason starting this
week. Six teams dropped out of this week's poll and Heath High of
Rockwall, Texas made the biggest jump entering at No. 18 after being
unranked.
The staffs of Baseball America and the NHSBCA compile the Top 25
rankings. In-season polls will be conducted every two weeks and released
every other Tuesday throughout the season. Records indicated are as of April 25 and do not include ties.
