Bellaire (Texas) High's bid for a national championship ended this past weekend when it was eliminated in the region finals of the Texas playoffs. Still alive after taking two out of three from Calallen High (Corpus Christi, Texas) is the new No. 1 team, Moody High (Corpus Christi, Texas). Moody is now into single-elimination format and will face Arlington Heights High (Fort Worth, Texas). The winner of that game will face the winner of Texarkana's Texas High and Brenham (Texas) High).

High in its season finale. The Sailors prevailed, blanking the Tigers 7-0, which led to their drop from No. 1 to No. 3. Menchville High of Newport News, Va. takes over the top spot as the Monarchs remain undefeated with a 17-0 mark while Bellaire (Texas) High stayed put at No. 2.

High is the newest member to the top 25, winning the CIF Division I Southern Section title over No. 14 Wilson High (Long Beach, Calif.).
