Javier Baez IF
Arlington Country Day School, Jacksonville
Height: 6-1. Weight: 185. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Baez has natural loft to his swing and centers the ball consistently. He has a muscular build with good bat speed and has shown power potential with wood. Baez will likely move off shortstop eventually, but he's a good athlete with a strong enough arm to handle third base.
Cameron Gallagher C
Manheim Township HS, Lancaster, Pa.
Height: 6-3. Weight: 215. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Gallagher has a solid frame that's ideal behind the plate, and strength is a big part of his game. He shows good arm strength behind the plate and also has power potential as a hitter. Like a lot of catchers, Gallagher is a below-average runner. He has committed to East Carolina.
Francisco Lindor IF
Montverde (Fla.) Academy
Height: 5-11. Weight: 175. Bats/Throws: B/R.
A key member of Team USA's 16U gold medal squad in 2009, Lindor is a lively athlete who figures to stay at shortstop. He's an excellent defender and has shown an ability to put the barrel on the ball. Committed to play at Florida State, Lindor is an above-average runner.
Daniel Norris LHP
Science Hill HS, Johnson City, Tenn.
Height: 6-2. Weight: 170. Bats/Throws: L/L.
With an electric, 92-94 mph fastball and a nasty curveball, Norris rates as the top high school prospect in the 2011 draft class. He has an easy delivery with a quick arm and shows a three-pitch mix that includes an 83 mph changeup. He has played football but will give it up as a senior.
Andrew Suarez LHP
Columbus HS, Miami
Height: 6-2. Weight: 200. Bats/Throws: L/L.
Suarez is a strong-armed southpaw who lives in the 88-91 mph range with his fastball while mixing in a hard, 12-to-6 curveball. He's a physical 6-foot-2 and will need to work hard to stay in shape. He has also shown an ability to command his fastball. He has committed to Miami.
Tyler Beede RHP
Lawrence Academy, Groton, Mass.
Height: 6-4. Weight: 200. Bats/Throws: R/R.
With an ideal pitcher's frame, Beede has shown a four-pitch mix in the last year. His fastball ranges from 88-92 mph, with possibly more to come, and he mixes in a good curveball and changeup. He has also flashed a good, tight slider. He has committed to Vanderbilt.
Larry Greene OF
Berrien County HS, Nashville, Ga.
Height: 6-1. Weight: 230. Bats/Throws: L/R.
Greene has a sturdy, 6-foot-1 frame that produces a powerful swing from the left side of the plate. Greene has a strong arm and plays third base, but long term he profiles better in the outfield. He also plays running back in high school and has committed to Georgia.
John Magliozzi RHP
Dexter School, Brookline, Mass.
Height: 5-11. Weight: 185. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Magliozzi is an undersized righthander at 5-foot-11, but he has legitimate stuff and has a good feel for pitching as well. His fastball is in the 91-93 mph range, and he mixes in a nice changeup as well as a curveball. Magliozzi has committed to pitch for Florida.
Philip Pfeifer LHP
Farragut HS, Knoxville
Height: 6-0. Weight: 187. Bats/Throws: L/L.
A first team Baseball America High School All-American as a junior, Pfeifer has dominated at the high school level by pounding the strike zone. He has a funky delivery and lives in the 88-92 mph range with his fastball. He also has a good curveball. He is committed to Vanderbilt.
Joshua Tobias IF
Southeast Guilford HS, Greensboro, N.C.
Height: 5-10. Weight: 194. Bats/Throws: B/R.
Tobias' small, compact frame, packs a serious punch. He has good bat speed that generates power, and he's an above-average runner. A move to second base or center field is likely, but he has explosive tools for a smaller guy. His commitment is to Florida.
Jake cave OF/LHP
Kecoughtan HS, Hampton, Va.
Height: 6-1. Weight: 185. Bats/Throws: L/L.
Physical and broad-shouldered, Cave is a legitimate two-way threat. He has a good arm that can generate a fastball up to 90-91 mph from the left side. At the plate, he'll likely hit for power with his physicality and lift in his swing. He has committed to play for Louisiana State.
Michael Kelly RHP
West Boca Raton HS, Boca Raton, Fla.
Height: 6-5. Weight: 195. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Kelly has a lean, 6-foot-5 frame that offers room for projection. He fires 91-93 mph fastballs from a low three-quarters arm slot and gets good movement on the pitch. His secondary stuff consists of a slider and changeup. Kelly shows good control of all three pitches.
Dillon Maples RHP
Pinecrest HS, Southern Pines, N.C.
Height: 6-3. Weight: 197. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Also a star kicker, Maples is a physical righthander with a strong lower half and big stuff. His fastball sits around 91-93 mph and he has a sharp slider. He induces weak contact with his lively fastball and flashes a changeup at times. If he makes it to North Carolina he could play both sports.
Brandon Sedell C
American Heritage HS, Plantation, Fla.
Height: 6-2. Weight: 205. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Sedell has shown an ability to hit since his freshman year at American Heritage High, where he was teammates with guys like Royals first-rounder Eric Hosmer and Devin Marrero. While he may not stay behind the plate as a pro, Sedell's bat should play at any other position.
Sean Trent IF
Bishop Moore Catholic HS, Orlando
Height: 6-1. Weight: 205. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Trent has a muscular build and his standout tool is his arm, which is one of the best in the class. At the Perfect Game National Showcase this summer, he fired balls across the infield at 97 mph. He has a compact swing with gap power and has committed to Florida.
Jose Fernandez RHP
Alonso HS, Tampa
Height: 6-4. Weight: 220. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Fernandez is a physically imposing righthander who defected from Cuba to Mexico when he was 15 years old before ending up in Florida. Fernandez throws his fastball in the low to mid-90s and has reportedly touched 97, and he occasionally mixes in a slider.
Deshorn Lake RHP
Menchville HS, Newport News, Va.
Height: 6-1. Weight: 210. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Lake attends the rival high school of Aflac teammate Jake Cave in Virginia. He has a live arm that generates a low-90s fastball and a breaking pitch in the low 80s. He's raw but has a good frame and the raw stuff to interest scouts.
Tyler Marlette C
Hagerty HS, Oviedo, Fla.
Height: 5-10. Weight: 195. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Marlette has a conventional catcher's build at 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds. He shows good raw power and can put on a show in batting practice. He runs well for a catcher and shows above-average arm strength. Marlette's college commitment is with Central Florida.
Austin Slater IF
The Bolles School, Jacksonville
Height: 6-2. Weight: 190. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Slater has an athletic build at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. He is an above-average runner and has the arm strength necessary to stay on the left side of the diamond. Slater shows a nice, compact swing and can drive the ball to the gaps. He has committed to Stanford.
Archie Bradley RHP
Broken Arrow (Okla.) HS
Height: 6-4. Weight: 225. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Also a highly touted recruit as a quarterback, Bradley has plenty of arm strength on the mound. He generates a fastball that sits in the low 90s from his big, 6-foot-4 frame and complements it with a hard breaking ball. He has committed to play football and baseball at Oklahoma.
Matthew Dean IF
The Colony (Texas) HS
Height: 6-3. Weight: 190. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Dean is an athletic third baseman out of the Lone Star State. He has a muscular, 6-foot-3 frame with a powerful swing and a strong arm across the diamond. Committed to Texas (for baseball), Dean is a high-caliber athlete who also plays safety in football.
Travis Harrison IF
Tustin (Calif.) HS
Height: 6-2. Weight: 215. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Harrison's calling card is power, which became obvious after he launched a 504-foot home run at the Power Showcase in January, breaking Bryce Harper's record by two feet. He has played third base in the past, but is likely to move to first or left field down the line.
Christian Lopes IF
Edison HS, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Height: 6-0. Weight: 180. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Scouts have long known about Lopes, who appeared on the radar before his teenage years. Now a prep teammate of Henry Owens, he's a capable defender at shortstop, though he may eventually move to third base. He can hit to all fields and makes consistent contact.
Joe Ross RHP
Bishop O'Dowd HS, Oakland, Calif.
Height: 6-3. Weight: 185. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Ross, whose older brother Tyson is a rookie righthander for the Athletics, throws a 91-93 mph fastball with good life from an easy delivery. His curveball is in the 78-80 mph range and he flashes a good changeup. He has a nice pitcher's frame at 6-foot-3 as well.
Dylan Bundy RHP
Owasso (Okla.) HS
Height: 6-1. Weight: 200. Bats/Throws: B/R.
Bundy doesn't have the prototype pitcher's frame and is a bit undersized, but his strength and two above-average pitches are legitimate. He sits in the low 90s with his fastball and racks up strikeouts with a tight slider. He's very strong and only recently gave up football.
Shawon Dunston Jr. OF
Valley Christian HS, San Jose, Calif.
Height: 6-2. Weight: 160. Bats/Throws: L/R.
Dunston is the son of the former all-star (and the 1982 No. 1 overall draft pick) of the same name. The younger Dunston is a 6-foot-2 outfielder who is a plus runner with a strong arm—something he certainly got from his dad. He is an exciting player who is fun to watch.
Austin Hedges C
JSerra Catholic, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
Height: 6-0. Weight: 185. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Defensively, Hedges could probably catch professionally right now. He's athletic and agile behind the plate with soft, but strong hands and a rocket for an arm. He has a line-drive approach at the plate and is a student of the game. Hedges has committed to play for UCLA.
Daniel Mengden C
Westside HS, Houston
Height: 6-2. Weight: 195. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Mengden is a strong-bodied player who has shown the ability to hit hard line drives to all fields. He has a good arm behind the plate, and could also be a prospect on the mound with an 88-92 mph fastball. He might get that chance if he ends up at Houston, where he has committed.
Robert Stephenson RHP
Alhambra HS, Martinez, Calif.
Height: 6-2. Weight: 180. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Stephenson has a long and loose 6-foot-2 frame, so he should have projection remaining. His fastball is currently in the 91-93 mph range and he mixes in a breaking ball that is more like a slurve and sometimes flattens out. Stephenson has committed to Washington for college.
Daniel Camarena 1B/OF
Cathedral Catholic HS, San Diego
Height: 6-2. Weight: 200. Bats/Throws: L/L.
Camarena is a two-way threat thanks to his arm strength and an ability to hit. His stuff isn't spectacular, but he competes and can sit in the high 80s from the left side. He also hits lefthanded and squares balls up regularly. He has committed to play at San Diego.
Phillip Evans IF
La Costa Canyon HS, Carlsbad, Calif.
Height: 5-10. Weight: 180. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Like East player Francisco Lindor, Evans doesn't possess a typical, projectable frame, but he's strong and put together. He has good bat speed and an absolute cannon for an arm. He's an average runner now and is a sound defender up the middle. He has committed to San Diego State.
Dillon Howard RHP
Searcy (Ark.) HS
Height: 6-4. Weight: 210. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Howard's physical and broad frame allows him to fire fastballs that consistently sit in the low 90s and can reach the mid-90s. He also works with a low 80s slider and changeup. He could become the highest drafted prep arm out of Arkansas since Travis Wood in 2005 (second round).
Christian Montgomery RHP
Lawrence Central HS, Indianapolis
Height: 6-2. Weight: 237. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Montgomery has a thick, 6-foot-2 build that is soft in the middle. However, he has plenty of arm strength, and his fastball sits in the 90-93 mph range and touches 95. He throws a firm changeup that moves down and away from righthanded hitters and a 72-76 mph curveball.
Blake Swihart C
Cleveland HS, Rio Rancho, N.M.
Height: 6-1. Weight: 175. Bats/Throws: B/R.
Swihart is a good athlete who has the ability to play several positions. He's a commodity as a catcher because he has shown an ability to hit from both sides of the plate and has some pop. He could play second base and is a solid runner. He has committed to play at Texas.
Dylan Davis RHP
Redmond (Wash.) HS
Height: 6-0. Weight: 200. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Davis is a 6-foot righthander with a fastball in the 92-93 mph range. He touches 95 with sharp, late movement that induces a lot of weak contact. He also has a short slider in the 83-84 mph range and mixes in an occasional changeup. He has committed to Oregon State.
Billy Flamion OF/LHP
Central Catholic HS, Modesto, Calif.
Height: 6-1. Weight: 192. Bats/Throws: L/L.
Flamion is an outfielder who bats from the left side of the plate and is also a lefthanded pitcher. He has a nice line-drive swing and good speed, and he plays the game with a lot of energy. As a lefthanded pitcher, he possesses an 86-88 mph fastball and a 74-76 mph curveball.
Ricky Jacquez IF/RHP
Franklin HS, El Paso, Texas
Height: 5-9. Weight: 160. Bats/Throws: R/R.
Jacquez may be 5-foot-9, but don't let his size fool you. His fastball sits in the 92-94 mph range and he also throws a sharp, 79-82 mph hammer curveball. He is also an infielder. Jacquez lives in El Paso now but spent much of his youth playing Little League in Mexico.
Henry Owens LHP
Edison HS, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Height: 6-5. Weight: 200. Bats/Throws: L/L.
Scouts love Owens' frame, which has plenty of room to fill out, and he adds to the package by showing a good arsenal—and all from the left side. His fastball sits 88-91 mph from the left side, and he also works with a sharp, two-plane curveball and mixes in a changeup.
